Partnering with the Palme Center, whether as a local partner organisation or an international donor, provides access to extensive experience, local expertise, and collaboration with a highly professional and dedicated team. We have regional and thematic expertise in the regions, countries and policy areas in which we operate.

The Palme Center has over 30 years’ experience of working in complex and often challenging environments around the world. This work has given us a good reputation within the international community and among past and present partner organisations. We are seen as a reliable, effective, democratic and transparent international partner.

Regional context expertise

To deliver sustainable results and social change, strong local presence and ownership is required. In addition to our headquarters in Stockholm, we have local offices in many of our programme countries. Having local staff ensures that we are embedded in the local context and understand the needs, constraints and opportunities of the countries, communities and people. It also enables us to work closely with our partner organisations and build long-term partnerships.

All of our region/country representatives have in-depth knowledge of the political and economic context of each region/country, as well as experience in providing strategic support to our partners in developing and following up on programmes. Each programme is also supported by financial controllers working in the local offices.

Thematic expertise

In our areas of expertise, we bring together long experience, strong expertise and extensive networks in Sweden and internationally. Together with our international partners and Swedish member organisations, our policy advisors and region/country representatives form a shared global platform for knowledge, learning and advocacy.

Ensuring professional governance

The Palme Centre is constantly working to ensure that our projects are carried out in an efficient, transparent and responsible manner. We are guided in our work by policies, guidelines and certifications that ensure ethical and professional governance.

Fighting corruption

The Palme Center strives to be an open and transparent organisation. We actively combat corruption in all its forms, and anti-corruption work is an integral part of all our activities. Our approach to corruption and other irregularities is to always to prevent, never accept, always inform and always act.

Our Whistleblowing service offers the opportunity to sound the alarm about suspicions of corruption or other irregularities.

Code of conduct

Aspects on how to act as a representative of the Palme Center are detailed in our Code of conduct. Those covered by the Code of Conduct are expected to act as professionally as possible and ensure that relations within their area of responsibility are as good as can be.

Risk Management System

The Palme Center’s risk management system is based on the ISO 31000 standard. We integrate risk management at all levels: organisational, programme and project. Like our member and partner organisations, we must consistently keep track of the programme and project context in order to recognise and tackle risks and minimise vulnerability.

Our risk management is governed by several documents, including the above mentioned Code of Conduct, as well as our Risk Management Policy.

Environmental sustainability

The Palme Center is implementing an environmental management programme to reduce our negative impact on the climate and the environment, and to increase our positive impact by developing the organisation to facilitate the transition. Since 2021, the Palme Center is environmentally certified in accordance with the SUSA Sustainable standards.
