How we work with partners
How we work with partners
The Palme Center is a trusted partner, always prioritising long-term and equal partnerships with civil society organisations, trade unions and political actors in more than 30 countries. We plan and monitor our programmes in collaboration with our partners, putting considerable effort into learning from experience and adjusting to emerging challenges. We primarily collaborate with organisations that are aligned with the international labour movement, as well as think-tanks, civil society and community groups that share our vision and are committed to driving progressive change.
We strive to always build long-standing, trusting partnerships because working for social change takes time and requires strong organisations working together in alliances.
When selecting a partner, we assess how their specific strengths would contribute to the programme’s goal and strategy, ensuring that the strengths of each participating partner complement each other.
We strive to work as equals with our partners, in horizontal partnerships. We consider ourselves as allies in a global solidarity network, using our varied resources together to tackle shared challenges.
We work with a results-based management (RBM) approach. This means that our path forward is guided by results and evidence. We are constantly evaluating our working methods, approaches and tools, learning from our actions and adapting as we go.
Integrated perspectives
The following perspectives are mainstreamed on our operations: conflict sensitivity / do-no-harm, gender equality, environment and climate and risk / anti-corruption. Furthermore, a human rights-based approach must be applied to all our operations.

Our member organisations – a unique strength
Our 26 member organisations represent a significant part of the Swedish labour movement, including trade unions, popular movements and the Social Democratic Party and its affiliates. Their knowledge, experience and networks are important and unique assets that have proven to be very successful in our international work.
Increasing impact through networks
Advocacy is an important component of the Palme Center´s work, both in Sweden and internationally. To amplify our voice and increase our impact, we participate actively in several key networks and alliances. Through them we strengthen our capacity to influence policy, shape public debate and raise awareness of global issues.
