The Palme Academy training programme

Political Party Academy

About the Palme Academy

The Palme Academy is a set of trainings on how to successfully run democratic and progressive parties. It aims to bring political parties from different countries together to exchange experiences and build global networks.

Introduction course: How to run and represent a party

After this course, you will have a good overview of how to form, organise, develop, and represent a democratic party.

What is the course about?

This introduction course is a set of leadership trainings. They give an overview of the different fields involved in running and representing a party.

Who is the course for?

The introductory course is developed for leaders and active members of Social democratic parties around the world. It is also useful for active members who are not leaders, in which case it can be used for self-study or as part of local member courses or study circles.

Where is the course held?

The trainings are carried out in the sister parties’ own countries—either with the participation of Swedish experts or by the parties themselves.

How to access this course

If you work with a Social democratic sister party that is interested in arranging this as a local course, contact Sanna Eliasson at the Palme Center at sanna.eliasson@palmecenter.se.

Course structure

The course is divided into six modules. Each module has its own course material.

You can use this material to design your own party trainings on the respective topics. Each material can also be used for 2-4 meetings in the form of a study circle to discuss the questions and ideas that the module raises. There is also a study guide for practical group exercises and tips for further reading in each area.

The six modules and the study guide are being developed during 2021.
